UPDATES From Westmead!

Heya & Happy Saturday Everyone!!!

Just wanted to give an update of how things are with Shrimpy. After an eventful few days -- he is good today.

Let me think -- last you all heard on here he was going for surgery. Well he came through that as well as could be expected. He had a bad night pain management wise. He had vomitted before I went to sleep but they eased that with some medication. I toddled off to bed at around 10pm my time -- so early but it has been a horrendous day in terms of stress.

Unbeknownst to me Justin was having the night from hell!!! The nurse didnt come get me (bare in mind the parents room where I am sleeping is ON THE WARD!!) but Justin didnt ask them to get me either. LUCKILY the nurse he has had through the day got in this morning & took one look & rushed to get me! So bed hair etc I ran round -- there was my boy -- clammy as all hell...tachycardic (erratci heart rate & bp) because he was in such agony. They called the surgeon -- he came & saw him was worrying thinking it might be peritonitis (infection inside) BUT it turns out his bladder was so full (over 3 litres) They inserted a catheter to drain it all away -- made me sob to watch my boy have that done. No mother should ever have to see her child go through that.

He was off the planet for the most part of yesterday on the morphine. They had given him to high a dose considering his lack of kidney function *goofs* So I spent the day with my son sleeping for the 3rd day in a row.

We had a PAIN FREE NIGHT! The morphine wore off finally & he managed to chuckle a little even though it hurt. But it was good to see him smiling again. We watched a movie together and at the end of it I made sure he was comfortable & settled & took myself to bed. I made it very clear that if he had ANY discomfort they were to come get me...I didnt care.

I crawled into bed & do not remember a thing until 7am when my mobile went nuts with a txt. Showered dressed, checked on my boy....no pain. Was awake, alert & smiling...what a sight first thing in the morning.

I had to run into Parramatta quickly & I must admit it was nice to be away for a little bit....I mean off hospital grounds.

I am now sitting here with a Venti Mocha -- thank god for Starbucks being here in the hospital!!! Waiting for the surgical team to come round & remove the IDC so he can actually get off the bed.

With some luck after the IDC is removed we may be able to go home tomorrow YAY!

Once again I really want to thank EVERYONE who has emailed, rang, txt,IM'd Facebooked etc. I have been humbled by the outpouring of concern and genuine caring from so many people. Not a moment passes without me realising just how lucky & blessed we are to have such sensational support not just from close friends here in Australia -- but from all over the globe! You guys truly rock!!!! I love you all and those special people who have been there every step -- I can never thank you people especially. You have saved my sanity, kept me smiling & most of all given me the support that I desperately needed to get through this.

*hugs n loves*
